Barnado's Big Toddle at Pennywell Farm June 2010

Ahoy there!

Pirates will be the theme of the Barnardo’s Big Toddle when it returns to Pennywell Farm near Buckfastleigh on Tuesday 15th June.

Pennywell’s miniature pig ‘Pirate George’ will be there to launch the sponsored toddle which is the UK’s largest fundraising event for children under 5.

The toddle at Pennywell is one of many taking place all over the UK with up to half a million children having fun with their friends and toddling for Barnardo’s every year.

Fundraising Co-ordinator for the SW region, Sara Cobbledick says: “Barnardo’s is delighted to be bringing the Big Toddle back to Pennywell Farm. Last year was a great success, attracting over 200 parents and children who enjoyed a great morning while supporting a great cause”.

“Together, they helped to raise £1,600 in aid of disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people”.

Registration this year is even better with 368 parents and toddlers signed up to the event already. With just a few weeks still to go it looks as though the 2010 toddle will be a much bigger event.

The toddle is open to all from nurseries, crèches and playgroups, to parents, friends and family. Everyone who joins the toddle crew gets a fantastic bag of booty, which is packed with goodies to help make the most of your fun day out.

The money raised goes to Barnardo’s projects that help children under 5. These include family centres, play groups and parenting support services across the UK.

Sara added: “Barnardo’s South West helps around 14,000 people every year, which is why fundraising events like this are so vitally important”.
